Branislav Ivanovic keen to remain at Chelsea

Cash rich Paris Saint Germain have made it no secret their desire to bring Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic to France ahead of the new season and are reportedly ready to make an £ 8million bid for the Serbian international but according to sources close to the player, the utility defender wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The 29 year old is adept at playing both at right back as well as the centre of the defense and new Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc wants to bring him in as a cover for Gregory van der Wiel but the Serbian is keen to commit his future with the London club and sign a contract extension. Ivanovic was one of the stand out performers for the Blues in their almost disastrous campaign under Rafael Benitez last term and is a threat from set pieces as well.

And this is one of the main reasons that new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to hold on to Branislav Ivanovic as he offers options at a variety of positions across the back four. When the former Real Madrid boss was announced as the new manager at the club once again, many players who were brought in after he left the club after his first stint in charge feared for their futures but Jose has taken special attention in calling each of them individually to dispel the fears.

And it is believed that the Serbian is one of those players and having been given assurances of guaranteed first team football, Branislav Ivanovic is keen on playing out his career at the club where he has already won the FA Cup, the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. His current contract with the club runs out at the end of the 2015 season.
