CHELSEA IN SEARCH FOR MOSES’ REPLACEMENT

Premier League leaders Chelsea are in search for a replacement for right back Victor Moses after the Nigerian picked up an injury that seemed to rattle the team.

The Blues are reportedly scouting Hoffenheim’s Jeremy Toljan and Atalanta’s Andrea Conti. \

Moses is out due to toe injury. He missed the game against Crystal Palace where the team surprisingly lost 2-1. Coach Antonio Conte played Pedro in the Nigerian’s position but the Italian wants a permanent player in the role as backup.

Chelsea sent scouts to check out Toljan – Conte’s interest from when he was the manager of Juventus. The 22-year old player made his debut in Hoffenheim in 2013 and he has developed with time. His club have been decent in the Bundesliga this season, with Toljan playing an important part. He played in the international window against England and Portugal, and it seems Chelsea are impressed.

Chelsea also want Conti as they sent high-level scouts to see the Italian full back. Conti featured in the 5-0 victory over Genoa last Sunday, scoring in the 25th minute. Chelsea would need cover in the defensive set-up especially after losing Branislav Ivanovic in the winter window. The Italian Under-21 also scores, a plus for the Stamford Bridge side.

Nemanja Matic recently spoke of missing Ivanovic so much. The Serbian left the club as he struggled to get play time. He was a key member of the team for many years, helping the club win two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and conquering Europe in 2012. Matic featured alongside the Ivanovic but accepted that they had to part ways at some point.

“I really miss him. I’m used to seeing him every morning in training, but that’s life. Somehow we have to get used to parting ways,” he said.
